On Wednesday, President Trump signed an executive order declaring an emergency at the U.S.-Mexican border. A text of the executive order was not immediately available, but a White House fact sheet said the order directed the Secretary of Defense to “deploy additional personnel to the border, including members of the Armed Forces and the National Guard.”
Trump Tries to Waive the Constitution via Executive Order
This comes on the heels of a Jan. 20 executive order purporting to end the so-called “birthright citizenship” guaranteed in the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which states, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
